Troubleshooting battery performance
Batteries in Ring devices are made to last for months between charges, but certain things can cause batteries to drain faster.
Check battery level and power use
You can check power settings in your Ring app to see if any features are draining your battery:
Open the Ring app to the main dashboard.
Tap more (•••) on the camera you want to access.
Tap your device's Settings.
- SelectPower Settings.
- Check your Battery Status:Battery Level percentage and Feature Power Usage. You will get a message under any features using extra power. Tap the feature to adjust the settings.
- You may see a link to get the Ring Solar Panel. You can use Solar accessories, plug-in adapters, and hardwiring to keep the battery charged in your Ring devices. Learn more about using solar devices.
Why your battery may be draining quickly
If your battery is draining quickly, check these points:
Too many motion events
The more Live Views, linked events, and motion events your device is performing, the more often you will need to recharge your battery. To make your battery last longer, adjust your Motion Settings to a lower level of sensitivity, adjust Motion Zones, change Motion Frequency to Regularly or Periodically, adjust the direction of your Ring device away from busy areas, or unlink your Ring devices.

Cold weather
Rechargeable batteries, like the one in your Ring device, will drain faster when it is cold outside.

Poor wifi connection
If your wifi connection is weak, your Video Doorbell or Security Camera might keep losing connection and then reconnecting. This can make your battery run out faster. You can check how strong your connection is by looking at something called the RSSI (Received Signal Strength Indicator) in your device's health settings.

Over-charging batteries
Charging batteries too much can cause them to run out of power faster and take longer to charge. To help your battery last longer, stop charging when it gets to about 90%. Ring solar-powered, plug-in, and wired devices that have a Ring Battery Pack automatically stop charging before 100% to protect batteries from wearing out.

Battery age
Batteries may not work as well after years of use. If your battery is not working as it should and you have tried the above steps, try using a second battery.
