Using the Motion Sensitivity slider with your Ring Video Doorbell Elite

How your Ring Video Doorbell Elite sees the world

In many ways, your Ring Video Doorbell Elite sees the world the way you do. After you draw a geometric motion zone covering the area you want to see, your Ring camera focuses on that area. The Ring device then monitors the area you've customised for movement.

Your Motion Sensitivity slider determines how much motion you want your Ring Video Doorbell Elite to react to.

This article will teach you to use the Motion Sensitivity slider so you can properly set up your Ring Video Doorbell Elite and make it a more effective motion detection tool.

Using your Motion Sensitivity slider

There may be things in your environment such as the shadow of a moving tree branch or the sun glinting off a shiny object that may trigger a motion event and send out notifications that you don't really want. You can use the Motion Sensitivity slider to reduce these kinds of motion alerts.

To access Motion Settings:

  1. Tap the three lines on the top left of your Ring app.
  2. Tap your Ring Video Doorbell Elite.
  3. Tap
    Motion Settings
    .
  4. Adjust the motion settings according to your preferences.

Getting too many motion alerts?

Activating Person Alerts via Smart Alerts and disabling alerts for other motion prevents you from getting unwanted notifications such as your pets walking in front of your doorbell, car headlights or blowing branches.
