How to arm and disarm your Ring Alarm with Alexa
First, open the Alexa app and enable the Ring Alexa skill.
If you're new to Alexa, install the Alexa app on your mobile device first.
- Check if your device is already set up.
- TapTry Discovery Again.
- Ask, "Alexa, discover my devices"
- Choose the option to get help connecting or contact customer service.
- TapSkills & Gameson the main menu.
- On the next screen, search for Ring in the search box. After you've found it, tapEnable.
- Next, Alexa will ask you to sign into your Ring account. This will link your Ring account to your Alexa account.
- After you sign in, Alexa will look for devices to connect. All of your Ring devices should appear and connect to Alexa automatically. If you don't want a particular device to connect, tapForget.
- Your device should now appear asRingin the Alexa app.
Next, set a passcode with which to disarm your device.
- In the Alexa app, tapDevicesand thenAll Devicesto view the list of your devices.
- Select the device that you want to arm and disarm using your voice.
- UnderSettings, toggle onDisarm by Voice.
- You will be prompted to setup a4-digit passcode.
After your passcode is set up, try the following commands.
- Once your Ring account is linked to Alexa, arm the Alarm by saying: “Alexa, arm Ring.”
- Once armed, Alexa will respond with: “Ring is armed in home/away mode.”
- To check the status of your Alarm, say: “Alexa, is Ring armed?”
- To disarm your Ring Alarm, say: “Alexa, disarm Ring.” Alexa will then ask for your four-digit voice code. Once that's said, your Ring Alarm will disarm.
How to arm Ring Alarm using an Alexa Routine
- Open the Alexa app on your mobile device.
- TapMorein the bottom right corner.
- TapRoutines, then tap the plus sign in the top right corner to create aNew Routine.
- On the next screen, tapEnter Routine Name.
- Type out a newRoutine Name(example: "Arm Ring Alarm") and then tapNext.
- TapWhen This Happensand then tapVoice.
- Type out the phrase you’d like to use (example: "Alexa, goodnight"), and then tapNext.
- TapActionin the top right corner, then tapAdd Action.
- TapGuardand then tapNext.
- Test the routine by tapping theplay button iconnext to the routine name, or try using theAlexa phraseyou chose for the routine (example:"Alexa, goodnight”).
- Arming or disarming the Alarm will be registered as an event in the History screen in your Ring and Alexa apps.
How to arm and disarm your Video Doorbells or Security Cameras with Alexa
First, enable Mode Settings for your Ring Video Doorbell or Security Camera.
- Open your Ring app.
- Tap themenu(≡).
- TapSettings, thenModes and Automations.
- TapModes.
- Scroll down and tapEnable Mode Settings for Cameras.
- TapDefault Mode Settingsor choose the option toCustomize Mode Settings.
Next, open the Alexa app and enable the Ring Alexa skill.

- You can also say "Alexa, I'm leaving" or "Alexa, I'm home".
