Managing alerts for Ring Alarm

You can control the alerts you receive for Alarm from the Ring app and on Ring.com. Choose to receive a notification when a contact sensor is open or closed, a motion sensor detects motion, the alarm is triggered, or there is an emergency event. You can also receive Alarm Alerts when your phone or tablet’s Do Not Disturb mode is on.


Managing push and email alarm alerts

In the Ring app or on Ring.com, you can control which Alarm Alerts you receive and whether you get them in your email, as a push notification (banner on your phone or tablet), or both.

  1. Open the Ring app to the main dashboard.

  2. Tap the menu (☰).

  3. Tap Settings.

  4. Tap
    Alarm
    .
    • Select
      Push
      , toggle on
      Push Notifications,
      and then scroll down to toggle on or off each item you can receive alerts for.
    • Select
      Email
      and then toggle on
      Email Notifications
      for each of the items as you wish.
    • To receive Alarm Alerts when
      Do Not Disturb
      is enabled on your phone or tablet, tap
      Mobile Device Do Not Disturb Settings
      , then tap
      Change Device Settings
      . Follow the steps in your phone or tablet to complete the process.
  5. Tap
    Save.

Note: The following Ring Alarm emergency alerts will continue to display even when your phone or tablet is in Do Not Disturb mode: Ring Alarm Alarming, Low Temp Detected, or Water Detected (Flood and Freeze Sensor only).


Managing push and email alarm notifications on Ring.com

  1. Select
    Settings
    from the navigation bar.
  2. Click
    Alerts
    .
  3. Select
    Alarm Alerts
    .
    • Select
      Email Alerts
      , toggle on or off the
      Email Alerts
      , and then toggle on or off the each item you can receive alerts for.
    • Select
      Push Notifications
      and toggle on or off the
      Push Notifications
      toggle, then scroll down to toggle on or off each item you can receive alerts for.
  4. Tap
    Save
    .

Managing text message alerts when the alarm is triggered

You can choose to receive text message alerts from Ring’s monitoring center when the alarm is triggered for burglary alarms.

Note: You will still receive a phone call for a medical, smoke, carbon monoxide, or other alarming events.

Text message alerts require Professional Monitoring and an eligible Ring subscription. Text messages notifying you that an alarm event has happened will be sent from the monitoring center at 833-209-2159. The text message will give you the location where Alarm has been triggered and a link from alert.msahub.com where your emergency contact can cancel the alarm signal or request help from emergency responders. You can cancel text messages from the monitoring center at any time.

Turn on text message alarm alerts

To receive text message alarm alerts, follow these steps:

  1. Open the Ring app to the main dashboard.

  2. Tap the menu (☰).

  3. Tap Settings.

  4. Tap
    Monitoring
    .
  5. Tap
    Emergency Contacts
    and select the emergency contact that would like to receive text message alarm alerts.
  6. Check the box next to
    Receive Text Notifications
    .
  7. Tap
    Save
    . Repeat these steps to opt into text messages for each emergency contact.

Turn off text message alarm alerts

You can reply STOP to the text message sent from the monitoring center to opt out of receiving texts when Alarm is triggered. To start receiving text messages again, reply START to the Ring Monitoring Center phone number at 833-209-2159.
