Charging your Ring doorbell
Charge your Ring battery-powered doorbell using the USB cable included in your device's packaging. Connect the cable to any USB power source to begin charging. The battery can take up to 10 hours to fully charge.
To extend the battery life or avoid downtime during charging for Ring doorbells that use the Ring Quick Release Battery Pack, you can purchase an additional battery.
Checking battery level
Check how much charge your battery has left by following these steps in the Ring app:
Open the Ring app to the main dashboard.
Tap more (•••) on the camera you want to access.
Tap your device's Settings.
Tap the Device Health tile.
- Under Power, you can see your doorbell's Power Source and Battery Level.
Charging a Ring doorbell with a removable battery
Follow these steps to charge the Quick Release Battery Pack for your doorbell:
- Remove the security screws:Use the included security screwdriver to remove the security screws located on the bottom of the device. Peephole Cam does not have security screws.
- Remove the faceplate or cover:Press in on the sides of the faceplate or cover and pull it out and off.
- Remove the battery:Press the metal release tab to unlock the battery and slide it out.
- Charge the battery:Connect the charging cable to the battery's charging port.While charging, your battery displays two colored lights. A single light indicates charging is complete.
- Reinsert the battery: Slide the fully charged battery back into the compartment until it clicks in place.
- Reattach the faceplate:Place the faceplate or cover back on the device until it clicks, and then reinsert the security screws.
- Wait for the device to power back on: It can take up to 60 seconds.
Charging a Ring Doorbell with a built-in battery
Video Doorbell (1st and 2nd Generations) and Battery Doorbell have a built-in rechargeable battery. Follow these steps to charge battery doorbells with a built-in battery:
- Remove the security screws:Use the included security screwdriver to remove the security screws located on the bottom of the device.
- Remove the device from the bracket:Lift the doorbell up and away from the mounting bracket.
- For Battery Doorbell:Use the remove tool to pop the doorbell off the mounting bracket.
- Charge the battery:Connect the charging cable to the devices charging port.The circular LED light on the doorbell's front will illuminate fully when the battery reaches full charge.
- Reattach to mounting bracket:Place the device back on the bracket and then reinsert the security screws.
Battery not charging
If you notice your Ring doorbell’s battery is not charging, try the following:
- Test your outlet to make sure it's working properly by plugging in another device.
- Try using a different charging cable.

Using alternative power options
